Professional wrestling is one of the most aggressively masculine, working-class American art forms — and it has always, ALWAYS had queer people in it. Always. The fact that it took this long for a documentary to say so loudly is the story. LGBTQ+ wrestlers past and present — their fear of being outed, their fight to be out and keep their careers, their place in a world that told them their existence was incompatible with the image. Darling, wrestling has always been men in spandex grabbing each other. The queerness was never hidden. It just wasn't named.
