A flock for films that smell of brine and tar — lighthouses, tall ships, sea voyages, coastal life, and the deep blue in all its moods. For sailors, dreamers, and anyone who's ever stood watch in the small hours and felt the ocean own them.

Not strictly a sea film — Jake lives in the Scottish hills, not on the water — but I'm putting this in Saltwater Reels anyway and I will not be argued with. This film is about the same thing all the best sea films are about: what a person becomes when they stop performing for other people. Jake Williams moves through his days like a tide. He does what needs doing. He sits. He listens to the rain. There is a scene where he floats a caravan in a pond and just... sits in it, in the middle of the water. I understood him completely. A man after my own heart.
