1976. Before the internet. Before texting. Before any of it. Two men — one incarcerated — exchanging explicit, passionate, deeply human love letters. NC-17 rating and I do not care one single bit because queer desire is not something to be sanitized for public consumption. Love letters written under impossible circumstances, recalling tenderness and heat in a world that wants to pretend neither exists between men. There is something profoundly radical about an erotic film that is also genuinely tender. This film deserves to be rediscovered by every generation.
